use different themes for different profiles, that would be the easiest indicator.

Identifying current profile:
Where is profile switcher?
Is this standard or a plug in?

I can only figure out how to get the profile chooser window up when I start FF.

I have tried searching through about:config without luck! (about:config is customized in each profile)
I have thought about adding something like local.user.profile.id entry set to the profile name. Then I could filter about:config on user, profile or id and find it.

I use a few firefox profiles and after I have had firefox running for a while I sometimes forget which profile I had loaded when I started firefox. How can I tell which profile I am currently using?

someone asked me to clarify my message so I will :)
Basically, if you have firefox on another computer (ie:work) that you’d like to use somewhere else – you cant use profile manager to help you so do this instead:

1. copy the ‘outsider’ profile into your “%userprofile%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles” directory.

2.Paste this into a shortcut:
“%ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” -profile “name of profile” -no-remote

3. if desired, plop the shortcut into the “All Programs” folder and add a shortcut key

[-no-remote will allow you to open multiple instances of Firefox at once]
